Clear Balance — Breakout Balancing Serum
Overview
Most acne products work by being aggressive. They strip the skin, and the skin responds by producing more oil, and you end up treating two problems at once. Clear Balance takes the opposite route: it unblocks pores, reduces the bacteria and inflammation that turn a blocked pore into a spot, and regulates oil — while actively keeping the barrier intact.
It is a light, watery serum that absorbs in under a minute with a matte finish. It works under makeup and under sunscreen, and it is formulated for the whole face rather than for dabbing on individual spots, because breakouts are a field condition, not a point condition. Treating the whole area prevents more than it cures.
The Formula
2% encapsulated salicylic acid (BHA) is oil-soluble, so it travels into the sebum-filled follicle where breakouts begin, dissolving the plug instead of only working on the surface. We encapsulate it to slow the release, which dramatically reduces the sting and dryness that make people quit conventional BHA products after a week.
4% niacinamide — the most-researched concentration — reduces inflammation, visibly fades post-inflammatory marks, regulates sebum output, and improves barrier function. It is doing four jobs at once and it is one of the best-tolerated actives in skincare.
1% zinc PCA works with niacinamide on oil regulation and has mild antimicrobial activity. 1% panthenol and sodium PCA are in here deliberately, to keep the skin from drying out while the BHA works.
What To Expect
Week 1–2: less oil through the afternoon, active spots settle faster. Week 4: fewer new breakouts, existing congestion coming to the surface and clearing. Week 8: visible fading of the red and brown marks left behind, which is usually what people actually want gone.
A temporary purge in the first two to three weeks is normal and expected — salicylic acid speeds up clearance, so congestion that was already forming surfaces faster. It resolves. Pushing through is the right call; adding a second acne product is not.
Who It's For
Oily, combination and congestion-prone skin; hormonal jaw and chin breakouts; blackheads and sebaceous filaments on the nose; anyone who wants to fade old marks while preventing new ones. Safe for most skin, including skin that does not tolerate benzoyl peroxide.
How To Use
Apply 2–3 drops to clean dry skin once daily in the evening, across the whole affected area rather than spot by spot. If your skin is dry or you are new to acids, start every other night for two weeks. Follow with moisturiser. Always use SPF in the morning — BHA increases sun sensitivity and post-inflammatory marks darken with unprotected sun exposure.
Do not layer with Quiet Exfo on the same night. Do not use alongside prescription topical antibiotics unless your clinician has said so.
